You create your own accounts at OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, Groq, and Mistral — and enter your API keys in Practa's settings. When you use AI features, requests go directly from your Practa instance to the AI provider. You pay those providers directly at their exact published rates. Practa does not proxy your requests or add any markup.
Yes. Cloud Managed and Enterprise plans include a free migration service. We support import from Clio, MyCase, PracticePanther, and CosmoLex for matters, clients, contacts, and time entries. Document migration is handled on a case-by-case basis based on export format available from your previous provider.
Yes. Cloud Managed deployments run on US-based infrastructure by default. Enterprise customers can request EU or other regional data residency. For maximum control over data location, Enterprise plans include dedicated infrastructure for data residency requirements.
Practa includes a built-in trust ledger designed for IOLTA compliance, including per-client sub-ledgers, three-way reconciliation, and compliance reports. However, you remain responsible for ensuring your firm's compliance with applicable bar rules and state-specific IOLTA requirements. Practa is a tool — not a compliance guarantee.
Physical mail is powered by Lob.com, which you connect with your own account. Lob charges per piece sent (typically $0.75–$1.50 per letter for first-class mail, including printing and postage). Practa adds no markup on top of Lob's pricing. You'll need a free Lob account to use this feature.
Yes, absolutely. You can export a full data backup from your Practa instance at any time. We provide export tooling and documentation. Your data is always yours — no lock-in, ever.
Pricing is structured around internal firm users (attorneys, paralegals, staff). Client portal users — your clients logging in to view their matters — do not count toward your seat count. Contact us for details on volume pricing.
